India has 1.4 billion people living at vastly different income levels, and millions are still in poverty. We can't ask people to worry about carbon emissions when they lack basic electricity, clean water, and jobs. Countries like Britain and the US industrialized without strict environmental controls—they got rich first, cleaned up later. India deserves the same path. We need dams, highways, factories, and coal plants now to lift people out of poverty; environmental regulations can come once we're developed.
India is already choking. Delhi has some of the worst air quality in the world, our rivers are toxic, and climate change hits us hardest with monsoons and droughts destroying crops and lives. We can't afford to repeat the West's mistakes—the bill will be paid by our poorest, not the rich who benefit from growth. A sustainable middle path exists: renewable energy, green jobs, and smart urban planning create growth without destroying the land we depend on. Sacrificing the environment now is mortgaging our children's future for today's billionaires.
